The goal of our research is to leverage biotechnologies to pursue hypothesis driven science that advances our understanding of biochemistry and physiology. Specifically, our research leverages a cell-free protein synthesis technology and an expanded genetic code for the on-demand manufacturing of previously intractable proteins. While we employ state-of-the-art biotechnologies, we rely on well-established biochemical principles (e.g. protein structure-function, enzymology, etc.) to elucidate how these proteins support the physiology of healthy and diseased cells.
